Who has NOT heard of P!NK? P!nk, a.k.a Alicia Moore, has been dropping hits for over 10 years. I first became a fan of her music when I heard her first single, "There You Go", from her debut album "Cant Take Me Home, on BET in 2000. I was immediately drawn in because all I kept thinking was "Who was this white girl on Black Entertainment Television. lol?"
What I admire most about P!nk is her bold attitude. The girl doesn't mind taking risks and doesn't apologize for them either. Perfect example, changing musical direction for her second album, "M!sundaztood". The songs on this album read more like diary entries and was a sharp contrast, musically to her previous album. Producers were not sure the album would be a commercial hit. They were wrong.
M!zundaztood sold 13 million copies and produced 4 singles that entered Billboard's Top 20 charts. “M!ssundaztood was my ‘coming-out party,’” she says. “I knew I was capable of more. The world had no idea who I was or what I was made of—and to a certain extent, they still don't. But I had a lot to say, and so I didn't want others to be speaking for me. I was 21 years old, and daring and bold and was ready to tell the entire universe that this was me, my good and my bad, and if they didn’t like it they could kiss my ass. Which I successfully did.”
