Fitness Spotlight of the Month: Monique Michelle

Hey guys!
This month's Fitness Spotlight is Fitness Model Monique Michelle of California.  She and I met up on Facebook and she was kind enough to give us some insight into her healthy lifestyle.  Check her out. . . .

1. Briefly tell us about yourself. Hello, my name is Monique Michelle I'm 37 years young, from California and have been modeling for many (10+) years. I enjoy traveling, dancing, cooking, and of coarse working my body. I am in the process of getting certified as a group/personal trainer, and training to compete for the first time in a NPC bikini competition in the next few months.
2. How'd you get started/interested in working out? I got a trainer who completely Inspired me. Her being much older than I and looking as though she is half her age totally opened my eyes to the world of fitness and the transformation the body can take. 
3. How do you do stay fit in the gym (ex. cardio, weights, calisthenics, etc.)? I soooo Love HIIT (High Intense Interval Training) and do incorporate weights, medicine balls, bosu balls, Jump rope, and bands. I switch it up. I like to keep my body guessing.

4. How do you do stay fit out the gym (ex. other sports, hiking, etc.)? I grew up on the Track and Field and Gymnastics, so I enjoy taking my workouts to the track to run bleachers, sprints, walking lunges etc. The training I did throughout my school days I incorporate the same training skills today (walk the curves and sprint the straights).

5. What's your favorite body part to train? Legs and Glutes Baby!
6. What advice would you give someone who's recently decided to live a healthy lifestyle? I'd tell them to work at there pace and stick with it, be patience and you will definitely feel a difference.
7. Because you're a competitor, is there any type of preparation involved in that? I actually haven't competed yet, but training and will do my first show in the next few months this year. My prep is making sure my food is prepared and at hand. Doing so prevents me from grabbing things that I don't need.

8. How do you stay inspired and motivated? I badly want to obtain a little trophy lady, so I keep that on my cell phone as a reminder. It reminds me that this is what I'm doing this for. So on days when i feel like quitting, I look at the photo and it PUMPS me up.
9.  Who's your role model/hero and why? I love Jillian Michaels because she gets results and can be a lil' fiesty.
10.  Speaking of modeling, I've read that you are a model.  How did you get started in modeling? A Photographer found me and photographed me, which took off from there.

11. What kind of music do you listen to when you workout and/or train? It's another motivational instrument for me. It's surprising how one song can give you the energy to push harder....but I currently find myself repeating a few Busta Rhyme Songs. Mostly I listen to rap, hip/hop music when I train.
12. If you could pick anyone, dead or alive, who would you love to train/workout with? I would love to train with Jillian Michaels.

13. If I looked in your fridge, what would I find? It would probably look like a Tupperware party, full of Turkey, Fish, Chicken, Vegetables, and lots of liquids.......I cook food for a few days and there will ALWAYS be stacked, color coded Tupperware in the refrigerator.
14. Got a favorite cheat meal? My weakness is for Chocolate ............. anything Chocolate.
15. Words to Live By/Got a Favorite quote? "No Pain, No Gain"
16. Name Five Things you can't live without. Headset, Cell Phone, Sneakers, Gym Membership, and the will to Dream.
17. What's the one question you're asked the most? "You don't look your age, so what's your secret?"
18. What's one thing people don't know about you? That I practice bikini posing (at home) in the nude.
