Photo A Day Challenge. . . .Part Deux!

Hey guys!
Okay, as you all know I attempted this challenge last month (May) and it was a total fail after about 3 days.  Yeah, yeah, yeah . . . I know.  I know.  So imagine my excitement when I noticed that the lovely Chantelle of Fatmumslim was having another challenge for June!  Whoo!  Hoo!  I love second chances and THIS time I'll be doing it right, LOL.

I'm loving the cool categories for each day.  I get inspired every single time I read the list.  I already have some ideas of shots and I look forward to any opportunity that allows me to be creative.  This is going to be fun!

I'm soooo Looking Forward to June

Once again, I've been m.i.a and for that I apologize.  Staying inspired has been a challenge for me the last several months.   I'm a very sensitive person and tend to over think things.  However, I am happy to report that I've gotten myself "together".  I'm not going to get into details at the moment.  I'll save that for a future post.  I do want to report that I'll be posting more frequently, starting in June.  I have so much that I'm excited to share.

This installment of "My Favorite Things" will focus on my love of Youtube once again.  As a fitness enthusiast who's trying to get back on her A game, I've relied on Youtube to keep my workouts fresh and challenging to maximize my results.  Below, in no particular order, are my favorite Fitness Channels. . . . Check them out!
BodyRock.TV

 

If you're looking for hardcore, high intensity workouts, then look no further than BodyRock TV.  This trio of trainers (Freddy, Sean & Lisa Marie) make you sweat!  Please note that, although these workouts are pretty short (each video is about 15 minutes long), they pack a WHOLE lot of work in a small amount of time, which is great for someone that doesn't want exercising to take up a lot of their time. 

 

Other than the intensity of the workouts, I love that the trainers provide alternate exercises for the viewers if they don't have the equipment being used.  Also, their online community is pretty intense.  BodyRock boasts over 300k likes on Facebook and the amount of support given to newbies on their site can be overwhelming.  Thinking about taking your workouts to a new level?  Check out their May: 30 Day Challenge. Tone-It-Up

If you're looking for the total package, Katrina and Karena are the closest things to it. This duo, otherwise know as Tone It Up, do it all.  They provide workouts, diet tips and motivation, all from sunny California settings.  I personally love their bubbly personalities.  I mean, these girls definitely MAKE you want to get in shape. 

Their monthly challenges keep you motivated and focused and their online support community help keep followers on course.   For more on Tone It Up checkout their You Tube Channel and follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

Amanda Russell

I came across Amanda Russell's channel when I was looking for a quick and fun Thanksgiving workout last year.  Low and behold, Amanda's Thanksgiving Big Burn video popped up.  I liked her personality and decided to check out the rest of her channel.  Pretty cool.  Amanda is all about everything fitness so she offers more than just workouts.  She's got diet tips, interviews and motivational tips to help keep viewers and subscribers focused on living a healthier lifestyle.

Blogilates TV

All I have to say is Casey Ho is TOO cute!  The founder and creator of Blogilates is another fitness guru with a great personality, who also provides a wealth of information.  Just like my other 3 favorites above, Casey is all about living as healthy as possible.  Her workout videos are fun and easy to follow.  And her infectious smile make those darn upward dogs tolerable :-)

Photo A Day. . .Something You Wore Today

Today's challenge was "Something You Wore Today". . . .

I LOVE accessories and am constantly on the hunt for cute earrings, rings and necklaces to add to my growing collection.

Here's a shot of a 2 sets of bracelets I recently bought and decided to wear today for work.  The gold and large pearl set was from H&M and the smaller pearl bracelets was from Forever 21.  I'm pretty sure I didn't spend more than $8 bucks for both.

Words of Wisdom. . . . May 2012

Hi guys!

I was browsing through Youtube a couple of weeks ago and came across this semi-famous speech given by Steve Jobs, former CEO of Apple.  Mr. Jobs, as we all know, passed away last year of cancer. I admire Mr. Jobs because of his forward thinking and creativity.  I thought his speech was incredibly inspirational and I wanted to share it.  I also included what I thought were some of the more poignant lines of the speech after the video.  Enjoy.

I took this shot last night on the way home from a philosophy discussion group in Sunnyside.  I had already taken a shot of the Manhattan skyline but thought that was typical and expected, since I'm a New Yorker.  I liked how "spooky" this shot looked.

Puerto Rico . . . My Hearts Devotion . ..

It's been a week since we've been back from Puerto Rico and Phil and I have been working on our third script non-stop. We've been so caught up with the script writing that I've regretfully neglected my blog once again.  I know, I know.  Shame on me.
Over the weekend though, I've gotten back into the swing of working on the blog again and I'm super excited.  One of the first things I wanted to post was some photos of our trip.  Hope you enjoy!

Photo A Day . . . .Peace

I came across this really cool post on BUBBLEGARM, which was originated on FatMumSlim.  It's a Photo a Day Challenge for the month of May.  Now granted, the challenge started last week but I'm going to start now since I came across the challenge on accident today.



I thought a daily challenge would be an awesome way for me to get more involved with photography since its a hobby I enjoy, but don't do as often as I should.

Today's challenge is PEACE. . . . .



Here's a shot of my adorable 4-year-old Daschund, Sasha.  I thought this was a good representation of Peace because Sasha's only got two modes.  She's either running around and being hyper or she's knocked out and sleeping. . . . .peacefully.

Monthly Hair Porn: May 2012

It's time for one of my favorite posts of the month . . . . Hair Porn!  This month is dedicated to a Protective Style I thought I wouldn't revisit for a while....Braids.  Yep, that's right.  

The week before our vacation to Puerto Rico I was scrambling to figure out what to do with my hair.  Should I go with a wig?  Should I go fully natural?  Or how about weave?  I was at a lost.  Eventually it came down to money.  I figured what was the best style for my hair that would A) be versatile, B) protect it and c) was the most cost efficient.  The only think I could think of was braids.  I learned a lot through my last experience and decided to give them another shot.  Plus, the shots of these lovely ladies helped inspire me.  Enjoy!
